Bye bye Microbeads Ceremony

11/08/2023

Hair Corner actively participates in the "Bye Bye Microbead Charter" action of the Environmental Protection Department. The facial cleanser, shower gel, and shampoo sold by "Hair corner"/"These" do not contain microbeads, so it actively participates in Hong Kong's environmental protection The Department of Protection officially launched a voluntary phase-out plan for personal care and cosmetic products containing microbeads in September 2021, in conjunction with the implementation of the Bye Bye Microbeads Charter to help consumers choose products that do not contain microbeads.

We actively carry out staff training to learn about micro-beads, connect with our life and environment, and assist the Environmental Protection Department to raise public awareness of micro-beads-related issues. I hope I can do my part and make an effort to create a green environment!

Environmental Protection Tips

What are Micro beads❓
Microplastics means the plastic debris with a diameter of less than 5 mm. Microplastics found in aquatic environments come in various shapes (such as fibers, particles, films, etc.), and their sources are also different.
It is a type of microplastics, which are solid plastic particles with a diameter of less than 5 mm. They are usually added to some rinse-off personal care and cosmetic products for scrubbing, exfoliating or cleaning purposes.
What are the effects of microbeads on the environment and human health❓
Micro beads have a similar size with plankton, which is easy eaten by marine organisms and enter the food chain. At the same time, chemical substances may also adhere or accumulate on the surface of the microbeads, posing potential risks to marine ecosystems and human health. Although there are many academic literatures about microbeads, the opinions are divided, and there is little scientific evidence that microbeads directly affect human health. Therefore, the impact of microbead pollution on the environment and human health still needs further research.
